Need and Importance of Information Technology in Education

Information Technology in Education

INTRODUCTION Information Technology in Education, effects of the continuing developments in information technology (IT) on education.

The pace of change brought about by new technologies has had a significant effect on the way people live, work, and play worldwide. New and emerging technologies challenge the traditional process of teaching and learning, and the way education is managed. Information technology, while an important area of study in its own right, is having a major impact across all curriculum areas. Easy worldwide communication provides instant access to a vast array of data, challenging assimilation and assessment skills. Rapid communication, plus increased access to IT in the home, at work, and in educational establishments, could mean that learning becomes a truly lifelong activity—an activity in which the pace of technological change forces constant evaluation of the learning process itself.

Significance of IT in education
Access to variety of learning resources

In the era of technology. IT aids plenty of resources to enhance the teaching skills and learning ability. With the help of IT now it is easy to provide audio visual education. The learning resources are being widens and widen. Now with this vivid and vast technique as part of the IT curriculum, learners are encouraged to regard computers as tools to be used in all aspects of their studies. In particular, they need to make use of the new multimedia technologies to communicate ideas, describe projects, and order information in their work.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi

N Mobile & Wireless Add a new comment June 08, 2011, 10:31 AM — The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi is the first Android tablet to effectively challenge Apple's iPad 2 at what Apple does best: Design. Let's face it, when it comes to tablets, design is the attribute that's squarely at center stage. And the Tab 10.1-available in limited distribution starting today, starting at $499 for a 16GB version-- has that in spades. In fact, its design, together with its Android 3.1 operating system, vaults the Tab 10.1 to the head of the Android pack.
The Tab 10.1 achieves perhaps the greatest design compliment an Android tablet can hope for; namely, it was often mistaken at first glance for being an iPad 2. Even by Apple iPad users. This is remarkably understandable when you see and hold the Tab 10.1 for the first time. The Tab 10.1 has a slim profile, 8.6mm, or 0.34-inches-a hair's breadth slimmer than the iPad 2 (technically, 0.2mm slimmer for those keeping the scorecard).
From the side, the two tablets look very similar. The Tab 10.1 has a more rounded edge, though, to the iPad's tapered edge. The tablet comes in two colors: Shipping first is white, which couples a silver-painted plastic edge with a white plastic black (identical to the limited edition Google I/O version of the Tab, sans the Android graphic imprint); available on June 17, when the Tab 10.1 ships in volume, you can choose a Metallic Gray, with edges and back that more closely match. I actually preferred the Gray varietal, even though that model would be less likely to be mistaken for Apple's ultrahip tablet. I liked the feel and texture of the dark backing, as opposed to the more chintzy feeling plastic white backing.
The Tab 10.1 edges the iPad 2 on weight, too: 1.25 pounds, to the iPad's 1.33. And it stands slightly taller and narrower than iPad, dimensions you'd expect simply by virtue of its 10.1-inch display. It measures 10.1 by 6.9 inches, compared with iPad 2's 9.5 by 7.3 inches.
Using the Galaxy Tab 10.1
All of this is meaningless, though, compared with the reality of actually handling the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Tab 10.1 feels lightweight and extremely well-balanced in-hand. I found it conducive to hold in one hand or two, and found it lightweight enough that I hardly noticed it was in my bag. I'd still like to see the weight on tablets of this size get closer still to the one pound mark, while adding even more built-in functionality (like additional ports), but this is a good start towards that goal. Especially considering the Tab 10.1 is Samsung's first mass-market tablet of this size (I'm not counting the region-specific, heavier and thicker 10.1V).

Sidestepping Apple

Sidestepping Apple: Companies rethink app strategies

(Wired) -- Facebook's iPad app could be a lot closer to launch than we thought. A full-sized, fully-functional version of the iPad app is hidden inside the current iPhone app. That means that, if you are running the iPhone app you already have the iPad executable on your phone.
Discovered by M.G Siegler, Apple writer for AOL's Tech Crunch, the iPad app is a lot more modern-looking than the tired old iPhone version, and looks a lot like Twitter's official iPad app. On the left is a source list to navigate between your Wall, info, photos and friends sections.
Up top, below the status bar, you'll find more icons to take you to different sections (places and chat, amongst others), and if you flip to horizontal orientation you get a combination of both these navigation "aids," and the top-bar nav icons remain. In short, Facebook has managed to fully port the signature confusion of its website to a tablet app, a not insignificant achievement.
Siegler, who found the app after reading about it on Twitter, calls the app "spectacular." The discovery was made by a an engineering student named Marvin Bernal, who also gives instructions on how to get it running on your own iPad.
If you are smart enough to know what that means, and yet you still use Facebook, then go ahead and hack away. The rest of us can either wait for the official launch, or wait for Google to release Google Plus for the iPad.

Sony unveils a 3D laptop

Sony unveils a 3D laptop
All around us is more information about 3D technology and while a lot of people feel like it's great others aren't so sure about it. In order to view 3D correctly you do have to wear glasses that will allow you to see it as it was filmed and meant to be seen. Sony is just one of several companies that is planning to release a series of 3D laptops and other devices starting as soon as 2011. The one worry is how successful it will be as not too many Americans have invested in 3D televisions and home entertainment systems.

Sony is just one of several companies that is planning to release a series of 3D laptops and other devices starting as soon as 2011. The one worry is how successful it will be as not too many Americans have invested in 3D televisions and home entertainment systems.
The Sony 3D laptop is set to be released in 2011 and it is also expected for Sony to launch a series of 3D video games. The 3D laptop comes with a "3D" button that you will click on and then you have to put on your 3D glasses in order to see the screen properly.
In order for the laptop to work correctly it will need to display about 240 frames of video per second. Sony is using a graphics chip system in order to try and keep up with the 3D technology but they have yet to offer any details and specifications regarding this part of the laptop.
The one thing to note is that the prototype you can view online and that you can see at conferences and events isn't going to be exactly what you get. Sony has already stated there may be some slight differences with the 3D technology laptop as the prototype has additional features that are used for marketing. With this information made public, you might want to take a look into waiting a few years before you opt for the 3D laptop so all the kinks can be worked out correctly.

Technology:The newest and greatest computer technology

Computer technology is one of the most rapidly changing and developing fields within the world! There are so many different things that computers can do, and every year many new computer products and technological advances are announced! Here are a couple of the newest and greatest pieces of computer technology:
Newest: One of the newest types of computer technology is a new product which Bill Gates calls "Surface." This project took five years to make, and it was only known by its secret code name "Milan." The "Surface" looks like a low, blacktop coffee table, but it is sensitive to the touch. Keyboards and mousse are not needed, because "Surface" is completely controlled by hand gestures and movements! The hardware for this product is run by a special version of Microsoft's Windows Vista. "Surface" is scheduled to be released to the public in November of 2007. It is thought that this easier way of computer technology will be more accessible and user-friendly to people who struggle with keyboards and the computer mouse. In addition, "Surface" will also be helpful to retailers. T-Mobile USA has a contract with Microsoft for "Surface," and they will be able to place different cell phones on the top of the "Surface" screen. The screen will sense which different types of cell phones are there, and then pull up a list of the phones' different features!
Newest: Another one of the newest types of computer technology is the Apple TV. This is a new product which will use computer technology to hook the computer and TV together. It is known as Apple TV and iTv. Using computer technology, the Apple TV will be able to wirelessly stream both music and videos from the computer or Internet. The basic television set will be able to pick up on these signals, and the image will be available for viewing on the television screen! This is one of the newest and most exciting types of computer technology that has been announced recently. This new computer technology also is giving Macintosh, or "Apple" computers a way to directly compete with the Personal Computer industry (also called PC computers). The Apple TV, in conjunction with iTunes, could make Apple computers the most popular computers on the market.
