PDF or Portable Document Format is a popular file format, which is more versatile than its paper counterpart. PDF format has rapidly become a universal standard for working with any type of documents whether it’s a research article, worksheet, textbook or a lecture.
Increasingly, students, teachers and professors tend to replace laptops with iPads. The reason is simple: Apple’s iPad is great for studying, learning and, in particular, for working with PDF files.
PDF Expert for iPad comes as a good solution for problems with PDF files, which existed before. Any text-books or e-books saved in PDF format can be easily transferred to the iPad from Mac/PC computer or any online storage. During the lectures, students can put comments with explanations and conclusions anywhere in the text-book, make freehand drawings to create diagrams, or simply call out the text with different shapes.
Teachers and professors reviewed their approach to the educational process and implemented changes in their work practices thanks to PDF Expert. Now it is possible to check, make corrections and add mark ups to the electronic worksheets and instantly send them back. There is no need to collect the worksheets and carry them with you for the checks.
Here is what Michael Woerner, a teacher of Xavier Catholic College from Australia, said:
“I provide my students with a PDF version of a worksheet which is located in a shared Dropbox folder. They complete the worksheet, add their username to the worksheet’s name & save it to the same folder. Later on in the day I sync that folder in PDF Expert, open the students’ worksheets, highlight mistakes & add comments. Once complete I resync & the students gets the worksheet the next time their computer is on.
PDF Expert is currently the only program that actually shows what the students have typed using the Typewriter mode in pdf-xchange for Windows.”
There will be more examples of how PDF Expert for iPad can be used in education. Stay tuned and participate.
